Although there is still a long way to go before we see an official preview of Android 13, we are already getting to know some of its novelties.
One of the most interesting so far will bring a new dynamic to transfer multimedia content between Android devices.
A new way to transfer multimedia content on Android
As mentioned in AP, Android 13 will implement a new function to transfer multimedia content between devices, Apple style. This function that appears as “Media Tap to Transfer” seems to follow a similar dynamic to that used by Apple for users to send music from the iPhone a un HomePod.
So with this “Touch to transfer multimedia content” mode, the user would only need to bring the mobile closer to the device to transfer content, for example, send music from the mobile to the speaker. If the mobile is not close enough for the process to complete, Android could show a notification to the user to move closer to the second device.
And once the connection is established there will always be a visible option to interrupt the transfer at any time. At the moment, I don’t know how this dynamic will work, since you can only see the function in a mock-up that tries to represent what its interface would look like, but does not offer more information about it.
One detail to keep in mind is that it is still in a very early development phase, so the functions or dynamics that are filtered can change a lot. So some features may be missing when the developer beta is released, or their dynamics changed.
We will have to wait to see if the Google team gives us a preview of some of the functions that Android 13 will bring us to know more details of these news.
