Robert Rodriguez is preparing a Zorro series for women

The project of a Zorro series for women is talking about him again. This time around, Robert Rodriguez is expected to collaborate with The CW to bring it to fruition.

β€œHis name he signs with the point of the sword. From a Z which means Zorro ”. Robert Rodriguez has been considering bringing Zorro’s new adventures to the screen for a while now. The series was to take the form of a female reboot on NBC. But this project never saw the light of day and we had no news since. According to Deadline, the director has not given up because he would now be in discussion with CW.

Things would obviously have progressed well to believe the American media. According to him, the scenario is already practically written, signed by the hand of Robert and Rebecca Rodriguez. During the process, another screenwriter joined the adventure: Sean Tretta. The one who notably worked on the series 12 Monkey would have thus collaborated in the writing of this new production.

A story of revenge

The plot should follow the adventures of the young Latin American who seeks to avenge the death of her father by infiltrating a secret society. She assumes the identity of the outlaw Zorro to carry out her plan. It is not yet known whether the narrative will borrow other plot elements and characters from the series. One can imagine that this Zorro of modern times allies himself with Bernardo, faithful servant of the horseman who appears out of the night.

No release date yet

The project is in its infancy, so it should not land on our screens in the coming months. There is also the question of potential takeover of CW, which could put a stop to the many series currently in development. If she survives this change of direction, the series will be directed by Rebecca Rodriguez. The filmmaker has already worked on several small screen productions, starting with Snowpiercer of which she directed a few episodes. She was also behind the camera for three chapters of Doom Patrol in 2019 and in 2021.

For his part, Robert Rodriguez has put in images the first episode of the series The Book of Boba Fett. He is also executive producer of the new Lucasfilm series on Disney +, each episode of which airs on Wednesdays.
