the latest DLC finally gives its news!

CD Projekt has just communicated about the next DLC of The Witcher 3, and predicts a release for this year.

A few months ago, CD Projekt announced big plans for its two star games: Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. If the first should soon to have its next-gen versions as well as its first extension, the second game was rather discreet in terms of new features. We knew that the next-gen update should arrive right after that of Cyberpunk 2077, in the first half of 2022.

Today, CD Projekt looks back on the third and final DLC of The Witcher 3, which has almost just given itself a release date. As a reminder, this one had to take inspiration from the hit Netflix series, itself inspired by the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski. For the moment we do not know if it will be more from a cosmetic point of view or from a narrative point of view. However, we learn that it should be available during the second quarter of 2022.

From this, we can therefore imagine that the DLC as well as the next-gen version could be released at the same time, via the complete edition teased last summer. No details regarding the content of this edition, or its price, have been revealed for the moment and CD Projekt keeps a great mystery around its hit game.

A success partly due to the series?

And The Witcher 3 was already a best-seller when it was released in 2015, the title has grown in popularity since the series debuted on Netflix, starring Henry Cavill in the title role. This was confirmed at season 2 release, on December 17th. As with the first season, the player count drastically increased right after the series aired.

And for good reason, this second burst of episodes takes us a little closer to the plot of the game, which is one of the most awarded titles of recent years. Only a few days after the start of the broadcast, The Witcher 3 has therefore offered a peak of up to 70,000 players simultaneously, the highest point for nearly two years. There is no doubt that the popularity of the license is assured for a few more years.

And that’s good since season 3 of the series is already in the plans of Netflix, which also produces a spin-off series called The Witcher Blood Origin. In other words, the franchise started in 1986 by the first books still has a bright future ahead of it.
