Five words. Elon Musk doesn’t need more to achieve maximum effect, not even punctuation marks. “Tesla merch buyable with Dogecoin,” the head of the US electric car manufacturer wrote on Twitter on Friday, confirming his own announcement that Tesla fans will soon be able to buy and pay for certain items in the online shop with the cryptocurrency.
The reaction was not long in coming. In the hours after Musk’s tweet, Dogecoin’s value shot up 15 percent to just under $0.20 before the hype died down a bit. Tesla’s US online shop offers, among other things, a quad bike for children for 12,020 Doge and a belt buckle for 835 Doge and of course the Tesla Trillerpfeife fr 300 Doge. (mer)
