This year comes loaded with new releases as far as electric cars are concerned. Some of them we know for sure when they will make their debut, others have been playing hard for many years (hello, Tesla Roadster).
In this scenario of expectation, a study has been carried out that analyzes the data on the volume of Google search for electric cars in 168 countries during 2021. Can you guess what the most anticipated car is and of which there is still not much certainty?
An electric sports car that is playing hard to get
From the leasing website Lease Fetcher have drawn up a ranking of the most anticipated electric cars, and the results show a clear winner: the Second generation Tesla Roadster.
Globally, a whopping 8,532,000 times in 2021 , an average of 711,000 times per month! In Spain the electric sports car has also triumphed, whose arrival is not expected, at least, until 2023 (six years after its presentation).
In the United Kingdom it is also the most anticipated model (456,000 searches per year), but it ranks second in the US (3,312,000 searches).
here the Tesla Cybertruck It has generated more expectation and ranks second among the most anticipated models: it was searched on Google 7,296,000 times.
And it will continue to do so Elon Musk has again delayed the entry into production of the electric pick-up, which was presented in 2019 and since then they have not stopped throwing breadcrumbs to maintain the expectation. We won’t see it until the end of 2023.
The Apple Car, the BMW i4 and the Chevy Silverado make up the rest of the list of the five most anticipated models.
In regards to the controversial ‘apple car’ project , which has no production date, tops the search volume charts in 54 of 168 countries.
The rest of the top 10 is made up of the Cadillac Lyriq, Nissan Ariya, Ford F1-50 Lightning, Rimac Nevera and Mercedes EQE. They all have an expected release date that moves between 2022 and 2024.
As a curiosity, the analysis shows that Andorra is very interested in the Cupra Tavascan while Burkina Faso has fallen into the networks of the Toyota BZ4X.
The most wanted electric cars available
The website has also analyzed the most popular electric models on the internet that are already available on the market, and Tesla wins again. He does it this time with the Model 3: 25,440,000 annual searches in 2021, with an average of 2,120,000 per month.
The next favorite model worldwide is -surprise- another Tesla model, the Model Y, with 14,160,000 annual searches.
The rest of the top 10 consists of the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, Polestar 2, Audi e-tron GT, KIA EV6 y Ford Mustang Mach-e.
