a 15-inch MacBook Air expected in 2023?

Apple could present a new MacBook Air in 2022, but also in 2023 according to Ross Young. It would have the right to a 15 inch format.

Apple has been working hard on its laptops since the arrival of Apple Silicon chips, and product launches are becoming more frequent. The Apple brand could thus offer a new MacBook Air by next year, an XXL version of the computer which today only exists in a fairly small form factor of 13 inches.

While the product, released in November 2020, has a still very competitive M1 chip, Apple could push a little more by offering the long-awaited M2 in this new computer. At least that’s what the latest report from Ross Young, who has been very active with the Cupertino company for a few weeks, implies.

13-inch MacBook Air in 2022 and 15-inch in 2023?

The expert who has worked for more than 25 years in the tech world has connections, and these are among the most reliable of the moment. Rumored 15-inch MacBook Air is not, however, a finding of Young. Indeed, Apple expert Mark Gurman, who works as a journalist for the Bloomberg site, had already mentioned such a project last year.

The most recent rumors expect Apple to release a new version of the MacBook Air this year. Apple could then choose to do as with the high-end version of its computer, the MacBook Pro. As a reminder, the latter was released last November in two different screen sizes, a first of 14 inches and a second, larger, of 16 inches. This presentation also allowed Apple to introduce new processors: the M1 Pro and M1 Max.

Which processor for a MacBook Air?

Since the apple brand presented the M1 Ultra, a dual-chip M1 Max that is only usable in the Mac Studio at the moment. However, there is little chance that this very greedy processor will end up in a MacBook Air. Being thin by definition, the Apple computer gives off heat quite badly and such a powerful processor in such a device could be counterproductive, both on the issue of heat and that of autonomy.

We finally know quite a bit at the moment about a possible 15-inch MacBook Air. The first rumors suggest that Apple is considering this idea greatly, but the next keynotes should provide more information on the most portable computer in the range.
