Takeover by Qualcomm: Veoneer gets new boss

Qualcomm will complete the acquisition of Veoneer on April 1, 2022, subject to no objection from the relevant authorities. As part of the takeover, the company, which specializes in driver assistance systems and autonomous driving, will have a new boss in Jacob Svanberg, who was previously responsible for the Lidar product area.

Jan Carlson, who has been at the helm of Veoneer since Autoliv was spun off in 2018, will retire from operational business but will remain available to the company as a consultant.

Last year, Qualcomm and its partner, the investment company SSW, prevailed against the contract manufacturer Magna, who was also interested. Qualcomm is paying $37 per share, so Veoneer is valued at $4.5 billion.
