In June, football will be in the spotlight on the Switch with the new Mario Strikers which reinvents this sport with Mushroom Kingdom sauce.
If you thought you knew football, prepare to be surprised. In the Mushroom Kingdom it’s no joke, and football becomes a brute sport! Often considered one of the best sports spin-offs that Mario and friends have been in, Mario Strikers had not returned to Nintendo consoles since the Gamecube and Wii.
A few days ago, the Kyoto firm unveiled the cast of ten characters who will take part in the aggressive football games of the Battle League. 15 years after the last episode, the license has evolved, and Big N reveals the gameplay of this new game in an intense trailer:
Forget classic football and play Strike
The variant of football played by the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom is called and Strike. Here, there is no question of simulating an injury, the blows are very real. The trailer goes straight to the heart of the matter: “Strike is like football, except there are electrified barriers, no rules, and matches are played 5v5.”
The goalkeeper is not a playable character in its own right, four players can then join a team and compete without scruples. Mario Strikers : Battle League Football promises to be the perfect game to spice up your evenings, since up to eight players can play on the same console with at least one joycon per person.
If you prefer to play online, you won’t be left behind, as Nintendo has thought of everything to provide a varied experience for this competitive sports game. A hybrid mode between local and online will allow two players on the same Switch to go online to face other opponents from all over the world.
And if you’re more the type to want to prove yourself, Club Strikers mode will allow you to create your own club and participate in ranked matches. A now classic season system in competitive games will assign you a division to play in during that time based on your ability. A club can be made up of 20 players and will allow complete customization of your team, from the choice of jersey to the layout of your arena. Nintendo puts all the cards in players’ hands for a complete club owner experience.
We don’t have long to wait before we can do battle on the Strike fields with tackles, special strikes and other techniques since Mario Strikers : Battle League Football will be available on Nintendo Switch from next June 10.
