Garmin is strengthening its range of Forerunner connected watches with two new models: the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955. Intended for the most athletic, these ranges are multiplied in several versions. Let’s try to see it more clearly.
The Forerunner 255, with prices starting at €349.99, is a high-end smartwatch aimed at runners. Several versions are available: Forerunner 255S with its size of 41 mm and 32 grams, Forerunner 255 (46 mm, 49 grams), Forerunner 255 Music and the 255S Music variant (46 mm) capable of storing 500 songs including playlists from Spotify, Apple Music or even Deezer.
A Solar model to run even further
All these models are 5 ATM certified (waterproof up to 50 meters), they can also be used for up to 14 days on a charge, or 30 hours in GPS mode. New compared to the Forerunner 255 range are support for Garmin Pay contactless payment, easier multisport toggle for triathletes, monitoring of heart rate variability during sleep, a morning report (weather, sleep time, workout suggestion…) and a running widget.
This widget offers daily workouts tailored to goals. It also displays a specific performance forecast for race day, weather and a countdown.
Range Forerunner 955, is more premium with prices starting at €549.99. The 47mm watch incorporates an always-on color touchscreen, five physical buttons, a battery life of up to 15 days or 42 hours in GPS mode. We find the same new software as on the 255, but the real novelty is the Solar version!
The Forerunner 955 Solar (€649.99), which recharges with solar energy, goes even further in autonomy: 20 days on a single charge, 49 hours in GPS, as long as the watch is exposed for three hours per day in an environment of 50,000 lux.
