KEEN Ranger PT: Pan/Tilt trail camera remotely controlled via 4G

Home Security Reolink, a camera company, is introducing a new trail camera called the KEEN Ranger PT, which can record 4K 360-degree video and upload it via a 4G LTE connection for remote viewing.

Reolink says the Ranger PT is the first in a new line of trail cameras (cameras designed to capture the trail and path of an animal), which promises to leverage mobile technology to upload videos and photos when there is no WiFi network available.

The company found that some of its customers used Go series security cameras to monitor pasture animals and wildlife in the forest. To meet these specific needs, it has added upgraded features, such as infrared LEDs and camouflage design, to make KEEN trail cameras more suitable for this type of work.

The KEEN Ranger PT looks like an all-weather version of a standard home security camera that can be rotated (pan and tilt), even locked in on a subject and tracked as it passes. This feature makes it especially useful as trail cameras (for tracking), are traditionally activated by the movement of subjects, and take photos that very often the subjects are slightly out of frame.

The camera has a 4-megapixel sensor with the ability to capture 2K video, with additional infrared capabilities, so it can record everything in detail during the day and at night. In addition to the ability to capture and send video, it can also stream live streaming, enabling the user to see the subject matter activity in real-time and manually rotate the camera to monitor it. The video is also stored on a microSD card or can be downloaded to Reolink Cloud for later viewing.

The KEEN Ranger PT is made so that it can be easily tied around the trunk of a tree where the camera hangs in a style that strongly resembles a security camera. It can run on either battery or solar energy, and on the outside it has a camouflage paint pattern that looks like a trunk texture, to match the environment.

Reolink has not given any information on price or availability, but the company plans to fully reveal all the details and start pre-orders on June 28.
