The Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro arrive in France with serious arguments

Designed for gaming, the Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro arrive in France. The brand has just formalized the international launch of two models with impressive technical data sheets.

Already formalized in China, the Black Shark 5 series will land all over the world. The Xiaomi subsidiary has just lifted the veil on the Black Shark 5 and 5 Protwo smartphones for players who offer neat technical sheets. Black Shark has made a name for itself in this area by playing on the quality-price ratio; trademark of the Chinese giant Xiaomi. The 5e iteration of the Black Shark retains this approach and offers very high level technical sheets.

The two new Black Shark smartphones inaugurate a new design. The most notable change is at the back with the abandonment of the horizontal strip for the photo block. A more classic rectangular shape now accommodates the photo blocks, like many Xiaomi models. The Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro, however, retain gaming aesthetic usual, with a “futuristic” approach. We also find the famous physical triggers, one of the strengths of the range.

Snapdragon 8-series datasheets

To the eye, the difference between the two will be in terms of colors and thickness. The Black Shark 5 features dimensions of 163.83 x 76.25 x 9.9mm, compared to 163.83 x 76.25 x 9.5mm for the Pro variant. They come with a screen 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED boasting a refresh rate of 144 Hz and 720 Hz tactile sampling. They offer a brightness up to 1300 nits and support HDR10+, as well as DCI-P3 color space coverage.

Under the hood, the differences are more significant and the Black Shark 5 Pro widen the gap. He equips himself with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (with Adreno 730 GPU) flanked by 8 to 16 GB of RAM (6400Mhz LPDDR5) and 128 or 256 GB of storage in UFS 3.1 “enhanced”. The manufacturer promises a “new leap forward” performance thanks to the Qualcomm chip (even if it is not the most recente), but also using the new liquid cooling system. The latter will dissipate the heat from components such as the SoC, the 5G antenna and the battery.

Better in photos?

On the photo side, it has a triple sensor including a 108 megapixel main module (f/1.75). The Pro version adds a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle (f/2.4) and a 5 megapixel macro module with autofocus (f/2.4). A rather interesting configuration for a gaming smartphone. The video is not left out with the possibility of film up to 4K at 60 fps and in HDR10+.

An interesting point for those who want to play or watch content, while enjoying the speakers of their smartphone.

Le Black Shark 5 acquires for its part a Snapdragon 870 (with Adreno 650 GPU), still signed Qualcomm. He adds of 8 to 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5 (5 500 Mhz) et 128 or 256 GB of storage in UFS 3.1.
