The new BMW 3 Series arrives in Spain with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, and cheaper than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Unveiled at the end of Maythe new BMW 3 Series lands in the Spanish market with a wide range of options mild-hybrid and two plug-in hybrids. And on the menu it offers rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive variants.
The first deliveries are expected for July this year, but we already know all your prices. It arrives both in bodywork sedan as familiar with the last name Touring, oscillating between the 44.400 euros and 74,650 euros in the case of the sedan, and between 46.900 euros and 77,150 euros in the family.
Compared to its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class It is somewhat cheaper, since it starts at 47,753 euros and 51,245 euros respectively, also with mild-hybrid diesel mechanics.
The keys to the new BMW 3 Series
The seventh generation of BMW series 3 It has been updated with new aesthetics, but also with technology. We review your keys.
No giant kidneys. Although the octagonal grille is now more pronounced, we do not find the huge radiator grille typical of recent launches such as in the new BMW M3 or in the new Series 7. The design of the headlights also changes, with an inverted L-shaped light signature.
new defenses. The front bumpers have been redesigned, with a more generous central air intake spiced up with more vertical and angular L-shaped elements.
It also boasts a new rear diffuser, which is flanked by L-shaped elements as in the front, and two exhaust outlets.
More colors. New tones such as the gray Skyscraper Gray or the also gray M Brooklyn Grey. But in addition, in the BMW Individual palette it can be selected in new colors such as Frozen Pure Gray metallic or Frozen Tanzanite Blue, also metallic. The new 3 Series can be selected from up to 150 BMW Individual paint finishes.
Huge curved screen. Inside, the leading role is taken by the immense BMW Curved Display panel, which combines the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and the 14.9-inch multimedia screen.
The infotainment system is the brand’s latest, iDrive 8, with connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, more controls integrated into the screen (for example tri-zone air conditioning), expanded capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant or improved integration with the My BMW App. Plus, enjoy remote updates.
without shift lever. The fashion of saying goodbye to the usual gear lever is also present in the new BMW 3 Series, which replaces it with a small selector. And it is that all versions of the Bavarian model have an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
Almost all ECO label and two ZERO
The wide range of engines of the updated BMW series 3 It almost completely reaches our market at its launch, with its delivery range between 150 CV and 340 CV. Most are electrifiedso it essentially carries the eco label o la ZERO.
When it comes to pure thermals, we only find two: gasoline 320i y 330iwith a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that ranges in power from 184 CV y 258 CV. Both carry the distinctive C. At the moment, the 318i is not in the equation.
But the family of new Series 3 is essentially mild-hybridgoing all the diesels supported by a 48V micro-hybrid system, as well as the most powerful gasoline: the M340i 340 hp. The most affordable variant is the 318d mild-hybrid, which yields the aforementioned 150 hp, but we also find the 320d y 330d the 190 CV y 286 CV.
The range is completed with two plug-in hybrids ZERO label: los 320e y 330e, both combining a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an 80 kW (109 hp) electric one. The thermal power varies, which is 163 CV in the first and 183 CV in the second, to sign 204 CV y 292 CV respectively.
In both, the zero emissions block takes its energy from a drums lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 12 kWh and the announced electric autonomy is up to 60 km in both variants.
The most powerful options of the new Series 3 are accompanied by the all-wheel drive xDrive including the 330e in Touring bodywork, the rest being rear-wheel drive. And as we pointed out, they all have an automatic transmission.
Prices and equipment of the new BMW 3 Series
At the technology level, any of the variants of the updated Series 3 have the BMW Curved Display with two screens joined by the same frame of 12.3 and 14.9 inches. They also include the iDrive 8 system with integrated navigator with BMW Maps mapping.
And in the same way, it is endowed with rear view camera or rear or front parking sensors, which make up the Parking Assistant at no extra cost.
As to assistance systemsalso standard, we find automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection (Front Collision Warning), adaptive cruise control, speed limiter, speed sign detector with overtaking prohibition (Speed Limit Info) or active warning for lane departure.
But optionally it can be equipped with a blind spot detector or the Driving Assistant Professional system, which includes the lane maintenance and guidance assistant, the Stop&Go function for cruise control and the automatic speed limit assistant and traffic light detection.
Also extra are Head-Up Display or the autonomous parking assistant Parking Assistant Plus, which includes functions such as Park View, Panorama View and Remote 3D View.
