this will be the brand’s electric saloon

As it has always been doing with its combustion models, Volkswagen also wants its electric ones to be able to adopt all possible formats. So after a compact, two crossovers and a minivan (the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and the Recent ID.Buzz) now it is the turn of a sedan.

This new sedan will be called ID.Aero and will be officially presented at the end of this month. For now, to whet your appetite, the brand has left us some sketches as a ‘teaser’ of this model that will start selling in China in 2023 but that will also come to Europe.

Recovering the spirit of the Arteon

From the first glance at these sketches, it can already be distinguished that the ID.Aero seeks to live up to its name with as streamlined a silhouette as possiblealthough without losing along the way aesthetic signs that already distinguish the ID family. of Volkswagen.

Seen from the side, it seems that the main feature of the model will be a very low ceiling whose fall towards the back ends a third volume that stands out just enough, very much in the style of what we had accustomed the arteon.

But the similarities do not end there since the front of the ID.Aero also seems to promise us sensations of good habitability and comfort as a result of the wide track width which is intuited

Of course, as we said before, the design also includes general details of the Volkswagen electric range such as the Led strip that joins the two headlights, the rear light signature (equally unified) or the visual division between the roof and the rest of the body.

The ID.Aero will use, like the rest of the IDs, the MEB electric platform of Volkswagen. This should allow it to offer practically the same mechanical possibilities as los ID.4 and ID.5, whose power levels range from 109 kW (149 hp) to 220 kW (299 hp). Autonomy should be similar, with figures that may be around between 344 and 521 km depending on the capacity of the battery to be equipped.

As for the interior, this remains a well-kept secret. The German brand has only left a slight clue in its statement that points to a spacious and elegant cabin.

For the rest, we only have to wait a few days until the June 27thdate on which Volkswagen will unravel the blanket and we will be able to know in detail the characteristics of this new member of its electrical branch.
